Student opens up about how SASC has helped them

Hi everyone, I was about to share this article here myself, but I am glad that it is being shared now. I know for some the SASC is just the free lube and condom place- hey, it was for me too! I never even considered that I'd ever need them for anything else. I want to share my story with this subreddit as to why completely replacing the SASC (rather than coexisting) is a terrible, terrible mistake on UBC's behalf. There will be some sensitive topics as a warning, but I will not go into details. Last September, I was sexually assaulted twice within the span of a few hours by a UBC staff member in my own place. I went to UBC counselling and despite telling them this was an absolute emergency and I needed to immediately someone, they could not book me in until the day after. When I had gone into the counselling appointment the day after, I was told UBC was unable to support me through this, could only me see me once every three weeks and recommended I look for help elsewhere.

Storytime Update: How to hit on lecture crush

Settle down around the campfire youngins and let me tell you the story about hitting on your lecture crush. I'm not really worried about him seeing it, he barely goes on social media. Or so I hope. Let's call my male friend 'Daario'. This kids is the story of how I met your father. DAY 1 First days of class (this was pre reddit post). It's a small class, probably around 30 people, and most of the seats are taken by the time I come in. The professor is fiddling with the projector, cussing and swearing at the IT gods that be. I grab a seat and procced to acquaint myself with my neighbors. Small talk ensues. I glimpse a majestic head of hair in the row right in front of me. Daario is in deep conversation with the guy sitting next to him. Damn, that boy fine I think. DAY 2 Purposely get to class early ( of course after making sure the lipstick game is immaculate) and casually make my way over to where Darrio is seated. I ask wether he too is in major X and what gigs he had over the summer, etc etc. We talk about what we plan to do after we graduate and how UBC has been high highs and low lows. I compliment him on his shirt.

Fable Adventure of a prototype SUS pre-med

First year: You apply for SUS first year committee. You write your high school experience as 'key club president' and 'me-to-we club vice president' on the application. You hear back from SUS in October that based on their random, invalid adjudication process designed by third and fourth year SUS execs (who all happen to be in Integrated Science) that you got the position. You immediately let it get to your head and start thinking you belong in a highly advanced group of keen students who are all going to get into medical school. You stop talking to Veronica, an old friend of 4 years, who didn't get into FYC. Second year: After incessantly sucking up to the SUS vice presidents, you gain enough rapport to muster the courage of running for assistant vice president. You of course would never run as vice president in your second year, you need to work up for that. You then listen to the advice of upper years to pick Integrated Science as a major, as they say it's the best major to get into medical school for. You don't question their authority, even though oddly none of them actually got into medical school this year, and most of them are in their fifth year still taking first year electives to boost their GPA. But you aren't like them - you're going to be a success story. During the summer, you write your MCAT.
